Of all the materials commonly used in kitchen countertops, marble is one of the most iconic. Marble kitchen countertops automatically show that you have taste and an eye for the exquisite. Why? Because marble is a classic material known to add a touch of luxury to the kitchen.
However, marble is a porous stone. Some would argue against installing marble in the kitchen, citing water, moisture, and stains common to the kitchen prep area as reasons not to install marble kitchen countertops. We respectfully disagree.
Marble Countertops are Heat-Resistant
Heat is omnipresent in the kitchen. You microwave, boil, bake, and fry foods every day.
While you should never place a blistering hot pan down on your marble countertops, you can safely put a hot plate of food down without fear of discoloration or burn marks.
If you want to quickly cool your baked goods, like cookies or a cake, where seconds matter, then place them on a cooling rack over your marble countertops. The marble keeps a chill, despite the heat in the air, and will help keep your countertops and anything on top of them cool.
Marble is Cost-Effective
While marble can be a cost-effective material for kitchen countertops, it depends on the marble you choose. If you opt for, say, Carrara marble, mined from soft veins in Italy, then you are looking at a relatively inexpensive kitchen countertop without sacrificing style.
Conversely, if choosing a rare, luxury marble like Calacatta, which offers a delicate white coloring, then you will wind up paying quite a bit more.
If you want budget-friendly marble kitchen countertops, speak with a dealer and firmly state your preference for cheaper slab options. Otherwise, you are likely to sit through an upsell.
Marble is Attractive
Of the many natural stones available for modern kitchen countertops, none quite compare to marble in terms of appearance. Marble is an attractive piece of stone. When installed correctly and after glazing, marble appears polished and reflective.
The downside to its exquisite appearance is that marble is neither quick nor straightforward to clean. You need to make a project out of cleaning your marble countertops with the right materials.
Marble is Unique
We know you do not want the same style or color countertops as your neighbor or mother-in-law. You want something unique – a countertop all your own. Marble kitchen countertops are the solution.
With marble slabs, no two colors or designs are the same. Each one features unique veining and coloring, as the mineral deposits that form marble are never uniform in their design.
The unique appearance also means that you must choose a slab in person on the showroom floor to appreciate your marble countertops. If you choose one online, you may find that it looks different than you imagined in person.
