Countertop Installation in Sumner, WA

Washington Marble Works is a family owned and operated business.

The process of installing a countertop can be overwhelming at best. If you’ve ever gone through a remodeling project, you know that it’s a big undertaking. What makes it a bit easier to swallow is having the facts on your side—understanding the process of countertop installation and knowing exactly how it works so nothing comes out of left field and surprises you.

At Washington Marble Works, we’re trained in the art of countertop installation and kitchen/bathroom remodeling, and we want you to feel like you are too. We can handle any remodeling project, no matter the size. Big or small, we’ll finish your remodel efficiently and right on time.

For an installation to go off without a hitch, the crew will need to come prepared with the right equipment and tools needed to lift and manipulate heavy, specialty countertop material. We have everything that an installation needs to go off without a hitch, and our crew has plenty of trained experience in countertop installation as well.

During the installation, it might look like a tornado went through your kitchen and left nothing but rubble in its wake, but we promise that you’ll like the way it turns out once our team is done.

Preparation to Install

It goes without saying the old countertop has to leave before the new countertop can make its way in. If that sounds like a big job—it is. But our team has no problem handling it. We can also handle disconnecting the electrical wiring and plumbing that needs to be shut off during the installation. We do all this to prepare the room for the new countertop.

Something you can do to help out the installation crew is to take everything that you might need throughout the day out of the room. If it’s the kitchen, think of things like silverware, electronics, and food. If it’s the bathroom, consider things like toothbrushes, cosmetics, or shower products that you can use elsewhere. The reason behind this is because the crew will be in the remodeling room for a good chunk of the day, so you want to get everything out that you may need.

It’s also efficient for everyone if there’s a path cleared to the remodeling room, with all furniture, pets, and children kept out of the way of the crew.

Installation Time

Of course, you want to know exactly when your new countertop will be finished. It’s an exciting project, and we’d want to know too. There’s no set time for every project, though—it varies between situations and depends on factors like the size of the project, the design and material of your new countertop, accessibility to the remodeling space, and how long it takes to disassemble and remove the old countertop.

Although installation time does vary with each situation, you can depend on a window that’s between four and eight hours for the installation of a natural stone countertop.

The Installation

There are a lot of moving parts when it comes to countertop installation, but we’ve got it down pat. The step-by-step process looks something like this:

– Prior to coming to your home, we cut the slabs of the countertop to fit measurements taken prior to that day. These slabs include cutouts for sinks, cooktops, and custom edges for your kitchen or bathroom.

– We then set the slabs on the bare countertops, with the old countertop removed.

– We level and secure the slabs.

– The seams are joined with epoxy that matches the stone.

– The seams are smoothed to create a joint that is barely visible.

Sinks and Other Cutouts

The team at Washington Marble Works is very familiar with different sizes and shapes of cutouts in countertops. No matter the cutout that your countertop may call for, we can take care of it. We can even take care of onsite cutouts in situations related to cooktops, specialty sinks, and faucet holes. In the event of an onsite cutout, we recommend covering any nearby furniture with plastic sheets. We control the dust as best we can, but it’s still dust.

Post-Installation

After your countertop is placed, sealed, leveled, dried, and quality-control checked, your installation is complete. We’ll reconnect what we disconnected prior to the installation—the electrical and plumbing—and give you the rundown on how to maintain and care for your new countertop.

Your New Remodel

There’s nothing quite like the feel of a fresh and new kitchen or bathroom, and we love providing that feeling to our customers. Understanding the ins and outs of installation plays a big role in feeling satisfied at the end of your remodel, which is why we’re happy to share all of the knowledge we have related to countertop installation.
