Quartz Countertops

About
Quartz countertops are primarily made out of natural quartz. This natural quartz is crushed and blended with colorfast pigments and polymer resins to create the finished countertops. You can also blend recycled mirror particles, granite pieces and colored glass into your counters. Once everything is mixed together, it is poured into a block mold and baked through a special process.

When you choose quartz counters, you can select the precise color and pattern you want. The finished counters are exceptionally durable. While quartz is fairly uniform, it is important to look at the entire slab before you decide which one you want to purchase.

Care and Maintenance
Quartz is exceptionally good at resisting acids, which is why it is unlikely to develop stains. This solid substance does not require any sealing, so there is very little maintenance work that you need to do. Once you install your quartz counters, you can relax and enjoy their beauty for years.

The only maintenance work you have to do is wipe down your counters from time to time. Ideally, you should use water and a mild detergent. Do not use abrasive ingredients like bleach. In addition, you should avoid using any cleaners that contain polish, wax or oils.

While quartz is unlikely to develop scratches or stains, you should avoid damaging your counters by using a few precautions. Use cutting boards when you prepare meals. If you do spill an acidic liquid, make sure to clean it up right away. Unlike some stones, quartz is not heat resistant. Because of this, you should always protect your counters from hot dishes.

In addition to durability, quartz counters are known for resisting scratches and stains. They are more expensive than laminate counters, but the added quality level is generally worth the extra money. The actual price you pay depends on the slab, quality level and pattern you choose.
